Current Trends in IT Outsourcing

Current trends for IT outsourcing are based, in part, on an increased growth of Cloud-based developments, along with the need to handle very large and unstructured data sets, known as Big Data Analytics. We explore these trends thoroughly through our work with clients at Shinetech and unpack their meaning below.

Cloud Computing

The recent results of the second annual Future of Cloud Computing Survey revealed a number of trends for 2012, including the development of more trust from IT decision makers regarding cloud solutions for mission-critical applications. Scalability of cloud solutions continues to be key, but security remains a challenge that may restrict some adoptions of the cloud. Other areas of growth for the cloud include big data provision, archiving and business continuity solutions. Software as a Service (SaaS) remains the primary investment, but Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) anticipate more growth in coming years.

Big Data Analysis

Biological data has grown exponentially over recent years, with a vast amount of data resulting from genetic and other research, such as proteomics. Social networking also represents challenges of integration of huge amounts of unstructured data, images, videos, music and diverse information. Shinetech has extensive experience in working with such large datasets; in one instance through the delivery of a biomedical solution for a northern European EU-funded project.

Rising data volume and cloud computing have both made huge strides in making intelligence more accessible than ever before. Shinetech meets these developments head on, providing solutions to software application development that integrate high-level technologies tailored to the needs of each organization that we serve.
